Labours appeals

ITANAGAR: All Arunachal Pradesh Government Departmental Labours Union while taking serious note over the proposed survey for construction of approach road within IG Park, Itanagar said that the proposed road would dismantle the labour barrack, where 11 families of department of forest are presently residing.

It strongly appealed the concerned authority not to dismantle the labour barrack.

Abide by boundary demarcation: AYSU

ITANAGAR: All Yachuli Students’ Union in a letter to concerned district authority regarding boundary dispute in between people of Joram village and Ziro-I said that after the untoward incident in 1992, people of Yachuli area including Joram village and Ziro-I have solved the boundary dispute amicably through traditional customary laws.

It appealed the concerned authority, people of Ziro-I and Joram to abide by the boundary demarcation of 1992 and further urged people of both Ziro-I and Joram village to maintain peace and harmony and congenial social atmosphere in the area.

AASSATA not to support ATA dharna

ITANAGAR, Jan 8: All Arunachal Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association (AASSATA) has decided not to support the phase wise agitation announced by Arunachal Teachers’ Association (ATA) in protest against non-fulfillment of its various demands, including appointment of Director Elementary Education (DEE) from among senior cadre of the Joint School Education Directors.

AASSATA, in a release said that the decision to appoint an administrative officer to the post of DEE is the prerogative of the Government as per laid down rules and norms.

A gazette notification from Government of India (GoI) has already been issued regarding holding the post of DEE/DSE by IAS officers, it said. Further, "the present Directorate of School Education needs a massive administrative overhaul and streamlining to put the educational administration of the state on the right track, it added.

"To think that by getting a director (DEE) from among its own cadre will mitigate all the grievances of ATA is a wrong assumption because it will only be ‘old wine in a new bottle," AASSATA felt.

However, it supported ATA’s demand for 50 per cent reservation in promotion of AT to JT, provided 50% of the vacancy is reserved for regularization of SSA teachers by reviewing the earlier cabinet decision on the matter, it added.

AASSATA further supported the ATA’s demand for rectification of pay anomalies of ATs. It further wanted to know what the School Education Directorate was doing all these years.

AIPU demands renovation of Itafort

ITANAGAR, Jan 8: Arunachal Indigenous Peoples’ Union taking serious note on the deteriorating condition of Itafort today urged the Department of Research and Department of tourism to look into the matter and renovate Itafort as early as possible.

It claimed that despite lack of beautification, preservation and proper management of the remnant, the Itafort remains a major tourist attraction.

It further demanded the concerned authority of Food Corporation of India (FCI) to immediately release the remaining PDS rice quota to all the districts and remote areas of the state without delay.

It also demanded the home minister to initiate immediate action to trace out and nab the culprit involved in the abduction of Sanjoy Kumar, supervisor of Arunachal Pradesh Mineral Development and Trading Corporation Limited, who was abducted from Kharsang, Changlang District on November 24 last.

Further, urging the owners of coal mining company to provide all necessary help to victim’s family, it appealed the abductor to come forward to negotiate and release Sanjoy on humanitarian ground.

10-member squad for National Games

ITANAGAR, Jan 8: Arunachal Karate-Do- Association (AKA) has announced a 10-member team comprising four men and as many women and two officials for the 34th National Games to be held at Jharkhand from February 12 to 26 next.

The players are selected on the basis of performance of 23rd AIKF Senior National Karate Championship held at Chennai last year.

The squad: Men: Talum Moya Anekam (61 kg), Likha Rajan (67 kg), Tam Tapak (75 kg), Nobin Jamoh (84 kg), Women: Rei Yadi (55 kg), Chunnu Sangno (61 kg), Debia Yakap (68 kg), Yomken Noshi (68 kg).

Sensei Lankung Marik and Deben Sharma are the team manager and coach respectively.

AAPSU calls for better sports facility

ITANAGAR, Jan 8: All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) while lauding the lifters Yukar Sibi and Soram Hitlar Tagru’s stupendous performance in national and international events in the recent past demanded the sports mentors in the state to provide the necessary infrastructure and other facilities to the sports persons of the state for better performance.

AAPSU president Takam Tatung said that given the right platform and support, the sportspersons of the state would excel in all fields.

Describing them as role models for younger generations, Tatung said that the duo despite being from a very isolated part of the state deserves hearty congratulations for their outstanding performance and also for their hard work to utilize their energy in the most constructive way.

Both Sibi and Tagru hail from remote Tali area of Kurung Kumey district.

The duo had won three gold medals each in the just concluded 6th National Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championship at Yamauna Nagar, Haryana. Before this, Sibi had won two gold medals in Penang, Malayasia and Tagru a Bronze in the same event.
